Home inspectors, as well as associate home inspectors, are required by Massachusetts law to be licensed by the Board of Registration of Home Inspectors. Licensed home inspectors must have completed high school or its equivalent, worked as a licensed associate home inspector for at least one year, and performed at least 100 Massachusetts Home inspection mostly under the guidance of a professional home inspector, passed the National Home Inspector Examination, and paid the required fee.
